Inside DCIM: 100xxxxx (Five letter word like NIKON, CANON, PENTX, CASIO….)

What is the Misc folder for?

What does DCIM stand for?

Why exactly five digits after 100?

Who set this standard for all digital cameras?

I just bought a used digital camera for my grandmother… I naturally assumed that all cameras come with a memory card because mine did (I have a cannon)

After talking to my mom she said that the her brand new camera didn’t come with one…

So i guess I’m trying to figure out if I was scammed or if it is common for digital cameras NOT to come with a memory card.

When I take a picture of myself by a digital camera, my face looks longer, my nose looks larger, and my jaw seems smaller than they actually are.

I am looking to buy a new camera as I broke my old one (Casio Exilim Z120). The feature I liked most from this camera was the built-in digital voice recorder which helped me in meetings and classes. I know all the Exilims have this, but what other cameras/brands have this feature? Also, do these cameras use SD cards? As I would prefer not to re-buy a different format - although this is less important… Thanks!

I tried a couple digital cameras. I was not able to figure out how to turn on the flash light as a lighting source while taking video. Sometimes when I take video with digital camera where lighting is not sufficient, I wish I could turn on the flash light on the camera. On some camera phones, you can turn on the flash light and take video. I wonder do digital cameras have this feature. Or maybe this feature only exist on some newer digital cameras. If so, what is this feature called? What feature should I be looking for when buying a digital camera?
